Get Latte free through your school

There's a way to get Premium without paying for it yourself: your school buys a license, and every student at that school with a verified school email gets Premium for free. The Get Latte free through your school page gives you a prewritten email to send to whoever makes that decision.

What this page is — and isn't

This page is a request surface. Pressing the interest button records that you asked; it does not email your school, and it does not create a license. Nothing unlocks the moment you press it — a school license is a contract between Latte and your school, and only your school can start one.

  1. Open /upgrade/school in the app. (There's no menu entry pointing here yet — open the address directly.)

The Get Latte free through your school page: the How it works steps, the prewritten petition email under 'Nudge your school' with its Copy template button, and the 'I've asked my school — count my interest' button

  2. Read How it works:

    1. Your school signs up for a Latte school license.
    2. You verify your school email address in Latte.
    3. Premium unlocks automatically — free for you.
  3. Under Nudge your school, click Copy template. That copies a ready-to-send email ("Subject: A Latte school license for our students") to your clipboard — send it to your programme coordinator or your student union. The button confirms with Copied!

  4. Click I've asked my school — count my interest. Latte records your interest and answers Thanks — noted!"We've recorded your interest. The more students ask, the stronger the case for your school."

If your school's license ends

School licenses run for a fixed period. If yours is coming to an end, Latte tells you before it happens rather than after — you'll see a notice on Account → Billing thirty days out, and again in the last week, saying exactly when your Premium stops.

You don't have to do anything. If you'd rather not lose Premium, the notice offers you a pass for exactly the time you're about to lose — priced from the day your school's coverage stops to the end of your semester, so you're never charged for days your school has already paid for.

Why you might see this even though you never bought anything

If you had already bought a semester pass when your school's license started, Latte cancelled it and refunded the days you hadn't used — there was no reason for you to pay for something your school was now covering. That's also why we won't let the license simply run out on you without a word: you gave up a pass you'd paid for, and you should get the choice back before anything changes.

Students paying for their own pass never see this notice. It's not about them, and it isn't an upsell — it only appears if the Premium you're about to lose is the Premium your school was paying for.
