Delete your account

You can delete your Latte account yourself, at any time, without asking anyone. Deletion is permanent — it erases your personal data rather than deactivating your account, and you cannot sign back in afterwards.

This cannot be undone

Latte tells you exactly what will happen before you confirm:

  • Your personal data — profile, calendars, tasks, notes and files — is permanently erased. This cannot be undone.
  • Conversations you took part in are kept, so the people you talked with keep their own copy. Your messages stay readable, shown as coming from “Account deleted”.
  • Any active subscription is canceled automatically and will not renew; premium access ends at the close of the current billing period.
  • You are signed out on all of your devices immediately.

What is erased, and what is kept

Deleting your account anonymises it. Your name, username, email address, phone number, profile picture and bio are removed, and everything you owned on your own — calendars, tasks, notes, files, poll answers, group memberships, friendships — is deleted outright. Afterwards nothing about the account identifies you, and searching Latte for your former name or email address finds nothing.

Conversations are the deliberate exception. A one-to-one chat is not only yours — it is equally the record of the person you were talking to, and deleting your account should not delete theirs. So the conversation survives, and everywhere your name used to appear it now reads Account deleted.

What this means for your messages

Because conversations are kept, the text of messages you wrote stays readable to the people you were talking with. If you wrote something personal in a message — your own name, an address, a phone number — that text remains in their conversation. Deleting your account removes your account data; it does not go back through what you typed. If a specific message matters to you, delete it before you delete your account.

If someone you talked with deleted their account

Their side of the conversation reads Account deleted, with no picture — the same as any other deleted account. Your messages and theirs are still there, and the conversation still appears in your chat list, because it is your record as much as it was theirs.

For a small number of older conversations — where the other person deleted their account before Latte changed to anonymising — the conversation is read-only: you can open and read it, but you cannot send anything more to it. There is no one on the other side to receive it, so Latte says so rather than letting you write a message that would never arrive.

Not available in the demo

Demo sessions have no real account to delete, so the Danger zone doesn't appear while you're exploring a demo persona. To end a demo, use Exit sandbox in the demo banner instead — see Try the demo.

  1. Open your Billing page at /account/billing. Scroll to the bottom, to Danger zone.

  2. Click Delete account. Latte opens the Delete your account page and lists exactly what deletion does.

  3. In the confirmation field — Type DELETE to confirm — type the word shown. (In French it's SUPPRIMER, in Spanish ELIMINAR, in Finnish POISTA; capitalisation doesn't matter.) The button stays disabled until the word matches.

  4. Click Permanently delete my account. Latte signs you out and returns you to the sign-in page, where it confirms: Your account has been deleted"Your data is being erased. We're sorry to see you go — you're welcome back anytime."

The desktop app uses the same page and the same confirmation.

Where the web link lives

Today the web Danger zone lives at the bottom of the Billing page (/account/billing) — the same page whether you're on Free or Premium. If your browser doesn't have a menu entry pointing there yet, open /account/billing directly.
